Shifts happen. Chaos doesn't have to.

Paper sign-up sheets, reply-all threads, three group texts for one bake sale — how is this still a thing? One app, every volunteer, English y español.

What Shifts Happen replaces

Three things we won't budge on

Modern & effortless

Built this decade, for phones. Claiming a shift takes three taps, not a login quest.

No ads, ever

Not a premium perk — a principle. Your volunteers will never scroll past a mattress ad to find the concession stand.

Every family included

The entire app — every screen, every button, every announcement — works in English and Spanish. Not a settings footnote. The front door.

How it works for organizers

  1. Create your organization Name it, pick school, church, nonprofit, or club, and you're the Org Admin. Two minutes, no credit card.
  2. Build your shifts Add events one at a time, or import a whole season from a CSV and publish 42 games in one click. Templates handle the repeat stuff.
  3. Invite everyone Share one invite code by text, email, or the Sunday bulletin. People join themselves — no data-entry marathon.
  4. Watch it fill Volunteers claim slots, waitlists auto-promote when someone drops, and you see exactly what's still open. No chasing.

How it works for volunteers

  1. Join with a code Get the invite code from your organizer, tap join. That's the whole onboarding.
  2. Pick your language English or español — the entire app switches, not just the menu.
  3. Claim what fits See open shifts and tasks, take what works for your week. Full? Join the waitlist and we'll tap you in when a spot opens.
  4. Show up prepared Reminders tell you where, when, and yes — who's bringing the tarp.

What it costs

The pilot is free. Early adopters keep it free forever. And when paid plans arrive, the free one still won't have ads — that's the whole point.

Frequently asked questions

What is Shifts Happen?

Shifts Happen is a volunteer shift management app for schools, PTAs, booster clubs, churches and nonprofits. Organizers post shifts and events, volunteers claim the ones that fit their schedule, and the whole app works in both English and Spanish.

How is Shifts Happen different from other volunteer sign-up tools?

Three differences. The entire app is bilingual in English and Spanish rather than English-only with a translated menu. There are no ads anywhere in the product. And it is built for phones, so claiming a shift takes about three taps instead of a desktop sign-up form.

What happens if a volunteer drops a shift?

The waitlist promotes the next person automatically and notifies them. Organizers do not have to chase anyone in a group text.

Can I import a whole season of games at once?

Yes. Upload your schedule as a CSV, tag home and away games, apply a volunteer template, and publish every game and its shifts in one step.

Do we have to download anything?

No. Shifts Happen runs in the browser on any phone, tablet, or computer. Add it to your home screen and it behaves like an app.

Is the Spanish real?

Yes. Written by people, not run through a converter. Tú, not usted. Volunteers pick their language once and the whole app follows.

What does it cost?

The pilot is free — no credit card, no trial countdown. Early adopters keep free access when paid plans launch.

Will there ever be ads?

No. Not on the free plan, not anywhere, not ever. It's a principle, not a pricing tier.
